Understanding leather

At Leatherprison, we offer three types of leather. Sheep and two weights of COW leather. So what's the difference and what should I order and why?

Well let's try and help you get the right choice made.

Sheep leather (often referred to as lambskin) is a highly valued material known for being very soft, lightweight, and supple. It has •an unmatched buttery-soft feel that naturally molds to the body over time. It is durable: While it possesses great tensile strength, its delicate nature means it is more prone to scratching, scuffing, and water marking than tougher hides like cowhide leather.

Sheep leather is a good, high-quality leather if you want softness, lightweight comfort, and flexibility rather than heavy-duty ruggedness.

Cow leather is the most common and versatile type of natural leather. It is highly prized for its exceptional durability, strength, and breathability. If you own a leather motorbike jacket, chances are this is made from COW leather.

There are two thickness of COW leather. 1mm or 1.3mm. We always advise to go for the 1.3mm on our heavier bondage items such as sleepsacks etc. But this is all down to budget and personal preferences.

For the perfect bondage attire, mixing leather outside and inside is the perfect combination. If you select leather as a lining option, then it will by default be SHEEP leather. Having this smooth leather next to your skin is a lovely feeling but also helps keep the items clean as its very easy just to wipe down after use. Also its easy to clean and feed with any sort of leather cleaning product to keep the item just like new.

Some people ask about the heat of wearing leather or having leather lining. You need to remember that wearing leather is going to keep you warm, so when wearing it remember to do so carefully, staying in a cool environment and keeping yourself as cool as possible. Only you know how you react when wearing such items so pay attention to how you know you will be whilst wearing such items and always play and be safe when doing so.

So - as a guide.

If your budget is limited, SHEEP leather is a great option offering you some great comfort and that wonderful leather experience. Just remember that the sheep leather will not last as long as COW leather would, so treat it well.

If budget is no limit then go for COW leather. Either weight will serve you well and if mixed with leather linig will become your new best friend. For the serious bondage players, go for the heavier weight as this will last you the longest, but will also take the longest to mold to your body and give you that ultimate fit.
